Former Lawton teacher agreed to complete mental health program

LAWTON,Okla_A former Eisenhower High School teacher charged with having a gun on school property has agreed to complete a mental health program to avoid jail time.

William Trice, 60, appeared in a Comanche County courtroom Tuesday and pleaded guilty to the felony charge. The incident happened last October. Another teacher saw a 9mm pistol in Trice's briefcase and told the principal.

Trice, who does have a conceal-carry permit, told police he brought the gun by accident.

If Trice does not complete the program, he faces up to two years in prison.
