Ambucs Pancake Day for Tornado Victims

Posted: Updated:

Lawton,OKLA_The four chapters of Lawton Ambucs are raising money for tornado victims through a special Pancake Day.

A similar event was held following the May 3, 1999 tornado. This event will help people affected by the storms in Moore, Shawnee and El Reno.

Larry Holcomb, the event coordinator said, "All of us that sit back and watch the news coverage of all the people affected by the storms. There is no way that you can't be touched and affected by all that."

Ambucs Pancake Day is an annual event in Lawton. It will be the same eggs, bacon, and all you can eat pancakes. But this time all the money will stay in Oklahoma to help with disaster relief.

"It is what we do when people need us. We are there for them. That is something that we really wanted to do was make sure all the money stayed here in Oklahoma", Holcomb said.

They have chosen to donate the money to Governor Fallin's OK strong disaster relief fund.

Holcomb said, "I would like to think that we can collect that $25,000, and I would like to get two or three times that."

This special Pancake Day will be Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Great Plains Coliseum. It runs from 6:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Tickets are $10 and are available at the Great Plains Coliseum box office or from any Lawton Ambucs member. You can also pay at the door.
