Winds Clocked Upward of 60 MPH During Overnight Storms

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla_An overnight thunderstorm is to blame for damage found across Lawton on Sunday morning.

Wind gusts were measured at upwards of 60 miles per hour which was enough to knock over a light pole in the new IHOP parking lot on Cache Road. It was bent in half like a flimsy straw.

The wind also downed some power lines at the Sycamore Trail Mobile Home Park at 38th and Sycamore. Crews were called immediately to secure the powerlines.

At 6:30 Sunday morning PSO's website was reporting just over 650 customers in both Comanche and Tillman Counties were without power, but by 8 AM they reported that all power should be restored.
