Local center helps female drug addicts

Posted: Updated:

Thousands of people struggle with drug addiction throughout the Panhandle. But, the Downtown Women's Center in Amarillo is doing all it can to help out local women.

The program is designed to help keep recovering women off the street. The ABBA House and the Haven Home are two centers designed to house those in need.

The Executive Director, Diann Gilmore told us renovations to the ABBA House have been a year in the making but will be very beneficial when complete.

Construction is expected to wrap up in the near future. When done, there will be more room to house women in need of help.
