Clarendon sees 3 inches, flash floods

Posted: Updated:

Clarendon, TX - In the panhandle, people generally take any rain they can get with open arms. And while this morning's showers brought ample rain, they were a bit too ample in some places.

Clarendon took in a total of about three inches of rainfall today (Jun. 19), most of which came in about one hour. So now the city is cleaning up the aftermath of a few flash floods.

The flooding didn't cause any reported injuries, but the Sheriff's Department said they came to the aid of one motorist stranded on top of her car. And the city didn't report any significant damage, but crews were busy this afternoon dealing with a broken water main and clearing debris from roads.

Flash floods are common in the panhandle, but these were the first Clarendon had seen in a few years.
