Rollover accident traps driver in wreckage, backs up traffic

Posted: Updated:

A rollover accident on Highway 87 had traffic backed up for about almost an hour Saturday night, as area law enforcement and a Lifestar team worked to free the driver trapped in the wreckage.

It happened about 9:30 p.m. Saturday night. Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety say 33-year-old Martin Gilberto Martinez Roa was headed south on Hwy. 87 when for some reason he drove into the center median, over-corrected and rolled the van he was driving.

Roa was partially ejected and after crews freed him from the wreck, he was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and officials said his condition was much better Sunday afternoon that Saturday night. No one else was involved in the accident and no other injuries were reported.
