Heat Advisory Issued for Southwest Oklahoma

From the NWS- THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORMAN HAS ISSUED A HEAT ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING.

* TEMPERATURES...AFTERNOON HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 94 TO 110 DEGREES.

* HEAT INDICES...AFTERNOON MAXIMUM HEAT INDICES WILL RANGE FROM 105 TO 115 DEGREES. THE HOTTEST AND MOST DANGEROUS CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL OKLAHOMA.

* IMPACTS...HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES WILL BE POSSIBLE IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN TO REDUCE EXPOSURE TO THE HIGH HEAT AND HUMIDITY. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER. TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS.
