Marlow Gets New City Hall Building

Posted: Updated:

MARLOW Okla_ Marlow's new City Hall building has nearly four times the previous building's space and has a long and interesting history.

It was a grocery store for over 50 years, and before that it was a mule stock yard. It's been abandoned for the last 10 years, though. Now, acting City Manager Jason McPherson said it's a building the community can be proud of.

"It's a real advantage for this community," McPherson said. "This abandoned building is off the roster. I mean, this is a used building, and it really looks nice."

The building has several features, such as energy efficient geothermal cooling and heating. It will also feature a drive-thru window for paying bills and a nighttime drop-off box.

Municipal court will also be held in the new building. McPherson said this was the first project of many on their list, and the others are already underway, including the new sidewalks on Main Street, renovating an old armory into a city library, and a brand new learning center. An open house will be held in October to show off the new city hall.
