Marlow Firefighters Battle Fire and Heat Exhaustion

MARLOW, Okla._

Marlow firefighters were overcome with heat exhaustion Friday night after a house fire turned up the summer heat.

Firefighters were called to a home in the town's north side near Evergreen Street around 7:00 p.m. after neighbor's spotted smoke and ran to alert the family that was still inside. A mother and her son made it out to safety just before the fire erupted.

Firefighters from Marlow and Rush Springs battled the blaze for several hours, many of the firefighters were so overcome from the intense heat, they were treated for dehydration and heat exhaustion.

Firefighters were able to get the fire extinguished but returned Saturday morning after embers rekindled around 8:00 a.m.

Firefighters said the home was a total loss.
