Rate Hikes Go Into Effect Monday

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla_July first marks the first day of the new fiscal year, and for Lawton residents that means those rate hikes the city council passed to balance the budget will go into effect.

Starting Monday the base rate for water usage will rise by four dollars, and the base rate for sewer will raise by a dollar fifty.

There will also be a 10% increase on the water bill per 1000 gallons of usage for everything over the base of 2000 gallons.

These rate increases will generate an estimated 4 million dollars.

All water usage before July first will be charged at the old rate.

The switch to once a day trash pick up will not go into effect until July 15th.
