NEW MEXICO - When Independence Day comes around, it will be a quiet night across most of New Mexico.

Governor Susana Martinez has announced that all fireworks and campfires are banned.

Instead, she's asking for residents to attend professional firework displays on Thursday.

Most of the state is under an extreme drought.

The announcement comes at a time where crews are battling several wildfires across New Mexico.
