Hereford Caviness plant cited for safety violations

Hereford, TX - An area meat processing plant could face up to $120,000 in fines for dozens of safety violations.

OSHA found 25 violations at the Caviness plant in Hereford, 23 of which were considered "serious."  A serious violation is one in which there is a substantial risk of death or injury.

The report cites a variety of violations, ranging from failure to investigate an ammonia leak to not providing workers with proper safety equipment.

    The Oklahoma state Senate has passed a bill to give teachers a pay raise. The bill would raise the price of gas and diesel to pay for road maintenance and use the money already put back for road projects instead on education. The problem that many in the Senate pointed out is that they don't have the power to authorize that move.
