LPD Identifies Victims, Suspect in 4th of July Stabbing

LAWTON Okla_ Lawton police have released new details on two people stabbed early Friday morning.

This incident is not connected to th 'Victim Critical After Early Morning Shooting.'

Officers were called to investigate a stabbing near 70th and SW Lee Boulevard around 1:00AM. They arrived and found two victims, 22-year-old Joshua Knowlton and 21-year-old Destiny Wall, both suffering from stab wounds. Police said both were able to talk about what happened. They were treated by EMS and transported to Southwestern Medical Center for further treatment. Investigators questioned the victims and collected evidence, which led to the arrest of 20-year-old Tyler Karns.

According to statements, a group of people that included the suspect and the victims was traveling into Lawton following a 4th of July celebration outside city limits. An argument ensued, and the driver, Knowlton, pulled the car over. Passengers exited the vehicle. Knowlton and Karns allegedly got into a physical altercation, during which Knowlton and Wall were both stabbed. Knowlton suffered multiple wounds to the neck, shoulder and ribs. Wall suffered three wounds to the hand and arm.

Karns was arrested and booked for assault with a dangerous weapon. No charges have been filed yet, but a case will be presented to the District Attorney.

Knowlton has been admitted to the hospital for his wounds.

    Lawton Police officers were able to help the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Police Department capture a man wanted for murder. Zakee Denzel Peterson was wanted for murder, robbery, criminal conspiracy, no license, and simple assault in Philadelphia. The Lawton Police Department’s Gang Unit went arrested Peterson on the warrant without incident.
