Missing Stephens County Man Found Dead

Posted: Updated:

STEPHENS COUNTY_A Stephens County man who went missing Saturday afternoon has been found dead.

Sheriff Wayne McKinney said they found 59 year old Gary Brown in a field, Saturday evening, a little after 6 PM.

McKinney said Smith's  family told him they noticed he was missing around 1 PM after they went out to check on the man who had been working in a pasture.

When they went to find him he was no where to be found, and his tractor was idling in the middle of the field.

McKinney said his department was notified around 4 PM.

They began a search utilizing cell phone location technology and a human tracking dog, but ultimately it was the use of the department's helicopter that helped locate Smith in the middle of some tall brush.

At this time there is no explanation into the cause of death. We'll keep you updated.
