Lawton and Elgin Schools to Receive Grants

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla_Two local school districts are getting a little help from the Department of Defense.

Both Lawton and Elgin public schools will be receiving a nice chunk of change to support STEM subjects over the next three years.

Lawton will receive nearly 2.5 million, and Elgin will receive just over 900 thousand.

The grants are capped at 2.5 million which makes the Lawton grant one of the largest awarded.

The money will be used to furnish new computer labs as well as buy new technology like interactive electronic whiteboards and calculators.

Only 15 of the grants were awarded to school districts serving military bases.
