Update: City of Fritch lifts boil water notice

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: 07/24/2013  4:25 p.m.

The City of Fritch has lifted their notice to boil water.

The City says water samples that were tested have shown to contain no harmful contaminants.

The water is now safe for regular use without the need to boil.

--------------

Amarillo, TX - The City of Fritch is warning all residents to boil their water before using it for food or drink.

Due to a failure with a water well pump, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality says harmful bacteria or microbes could exist in the water supply, which boiling would destroy.

TCEQ recommends that water be brought to a "vigorous, rolling boil" for at least two minutes.

The City of Fritch says the following areas are affected by this notice:  Sage Mesa, Ponderosa, Little Ponderosa, Arroy Verde, Antelope Mesa, Lake Meredith Harbor, Sanford Estates and Vinson Development. The City of Fritch (proper) is not affected.

The City will notify residents when the notice is lifted, and we will have the latest information on News Channel 10.
