CU Honored with Spotlight Award

LAWTON Okla_ Cameron University's Office of Academic Enrichment has been recognized with the Spotlight Award for undergraduate programs of excellence by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

The Office of Academic Enrichment, which coordinates Cameron's Honors, Study Abroad and Academic Research programs, was honored for achieving the goal of improving the academic quality of Oklahoma higher education.

"It is an honor to be recognized by the State Regents for our commitment to academic quality," says Dr. Tony Wohlers, Director of the Office of Academic Enrichment. "Our mission is to provide opportunities for Cameron students to take rigorous interdisciplinary honors classes, engage in guided research and scholarly activities, and participate in academically sound study abroad opportunities. This award signals that we are fulfilling that mission."

Cameron's Honors Program provides an enriched, innovative and high impact curriculum of honors courses coupled with experiential learning opportunities aimed at fostering civic engagement, scholarly activities, and global citizenship among academically talented students. The Study Abroad Program provides academically sound study abroad opportunities aimed at fostering global awareness and appreciation of different cultures, and the Academic Research Program fosters research and scholarly activities among students and faculty.

    LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - Lawton police are investigating a shooting that sent a man to a hospital. LPD says it happened around 4:00 p.m. Friday. They say the victim was walking near Northwest 26th Street and Ozmun Avenue when he was shot. The man showed up at a hospital for his injuries, which are believed to be non-life threatening.
