Woman Falls From Coaster to Her Death

ARLINGTON, Texas_A tragic accident at a Six Flags amusement park in Texas Friday night left one dead and dozens with a horrific image burned in their minds. A woman was riding a roller coaster when her safety harness malfunctioned causing her to tumble to her death.

"She goes up like this and then when it drops to come down, that's when it released and she just tumbled, " said bystander Carmen Brown.

Carmen Brown was next in line to ride the Texas Giant when she watched a woman tumble to her death.  It was 6:45 Friday night.

Brown says the woman got on the roller coaster with her son, and then on one of the sharp twists and steep drops along the giant's 152 tall path...the woman fell.

"And I said that could have been me 'cause I don't do roller coasters, and they're like come on mom, come on, that's why I don't do 'em, " Brown said.

Six Flags remained open but the Texas Giant, the tallest steel hybrid roller coaster in the world was closed.

Workers also closed down the portion of the park near the Giant.  Arlington Police say this is not a criminal investigation. Right now it appears to be a tragic accident.

"It didn't hit me until we got back down to the bottom, and I said, like she was no bigger than I was, like that could've been me, and then I like, I lost it, " said Brown.
