OK Innocence Project Wants to Overturn Conviction of Ada Man

Posted: Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY Okla_ The Oklahoma Innocence Project is working to overturn the conviction of a man they believe is innocent.

It's the case of 48-year-old Karl Fontenot, one of two men initially sentenced to die for the 1984 killing of Donna Haraway. Haraway was a convenience store clerk in Ada.

The Innocence Project at Oklahoma City University's School of Law announced its plan Wednesday to file an application for post-conviction relief. It is the first case the project has sought to overturn since it was created in 2011.

After two separate trials, Fontenot is currently serving life without parole.
