Walters Issues Boil Advisory

Posted: Updated:

WALTERS Okla_The City of Walters has issued a voluntary boil advisory Wednesday for all city water.

With the recent break in the Waurika supply line, Walters has switched over the Lake Dave Boyer water, which is of significantly lower quality due to the drought. The City is having difficulty balancing the chemical treatment process to assure the water quality.  This is a temporary situation and should be resolved in a day or two.

Walters City Manager John Sheppard said, "I don't think we have a problem with contaminants, but we are over chlorinating to assure water safety. So, we recommend that residents boil their water before they drink it.  It is still safe to wash, flush and play in the city's water."
