UPDATE: Details about Thursday's deadly plane crash
After Thursday's deadly airplane crash, we were able to find out more specific information about the plane itself.
Using the aircrafts tail number we were able to find out details through the Federal Aviation Administration.
The plane is a Piper PA-30 aircraft. It is an American, multi-engine plane that sits four including the pilot. They are typically used for personal or recreational flights and have wing spans around 36 feet and weighs in at about 22-hundred pounds. The plane has a cruise speed of 160 to 180 miles per hour with a top speed of 205 miles per hour.
We also know the plane left Tyler TX on Monday and landed at the Tradewind Airport in Amarillo. The FAA Registry has the plane registered to James Noguess from Hobbs New Mexico.
The the victim of the crash is Ben Harned who is originally from Tyler.
Aviation officials say small planes like this one do not need to register official flight plans, saying where they are going. They also typically do not have black boxes.
The FAA continues to investigate this crash.
