"We are Lawton" holds candlelight vigil for crime victims

Posted: Updated:

Lawton-  A group of citizens who are pushing for an end to violence in Lawton are calling for unity.

About 70 people with the "We are Lawton," organization gathered for a candlelight vigil and moment of silence Sunday night in honor of victims of violence.

"We wanted to come here and pay our respects to the fallen, but also to discuss ways in which we can move forward to impact our city positively and to combat the violence that we see," said organizer Triston Wright.

The group is planning a larger unity event next month and is considering plans to hold events like Sunday night's more often to raise awareness.
