OK Lottery Gives More Than Expected to Schools

OKLAHOMA CITY Okla_ Oklahoma education is now $12M more to the good, thanks to the state lottery.

The head of the Oklahoma Lottery said proceeds for education exceeded projections by $12M during the fiscal year that ended June 30th. The executive director said the lottery's total contribution to the state was more than $70M over the year. They had only projected $57.5M.

It's the fourth consecutive fiscal year that total collections outpaced projections. The state lottery has contributed more than $550M to public education since its launch in 2005. The money goes mostly to K-12 schools and colleges and universities, with a smaller portion dedicated to career and technology centers.
