Stolen Shoes Prompts Foot Chase

LAWTON, Okla_A foot chase ensued after a shopper at Central Mall went to extremes Saturday over a pair of shoes he couldn't part with.

After trying on a pair of shoes the customer placed his old shoes in a shoe-box and took off with his unpaid merchandise strapped to his feet.

Mall security began to chase after him but the man fled the mall and ran east bound near 6th and D along the rail road tracks.

An LPD officer recognized the suspect from the description given over the scanner. He chased after him on foot until he was able to take him into custody and bring him back to Central Mall.

Once back at the mall, the store manager identified the suspect.

He was then taken to the city jail on petty larceny.
