Accused Child Abuser Pleads Not Guilty

LAWTON, Ok_ Accused child abuser Denise Ray was back in a Comanche County courtroom Tuesday, for her formal arraignment.

Ray is charged with enabling child abuse and child abuse by injury. She pleaded not guilty.

Ray is accused of allowing her husband Lancey to beat her 10-year-old son Malik to death with a wooden board and belt. She is also accused of beating the boy, who died several hours after a beating in December 2010.

Ray's husband is in prison, convicted of first degree murder.  Denise Ray's first trial on the child abuse charges was postponed in May after a dispute erupted between prosecutors and defense attorneys.

The latest trial is now set for the September docket.
