Investigation continues into "TEXAS" cast member wreck

Posted: Updated:

Kris Miller, the Executive Director of the Panhandle Heritage Foundation says the cast and crew of "TEXAS" are doing their best to move forward just two days after a car crash took the lives of five "TEXAS" members on Monday night.

In a report,  the Department of Public Safety says Clinton Diaz, the 20 year old from Amarillo, was the only known person to have been wearing a seatbelt.

They also say the vehicle carrying those passengers disregarded a stop sign near the intersection of FM 119 and US 287 before coming into the path of a semi truck heading southbound. They say that's when both vehicles skidded off the road and the load that the truck was carrying landed on top of the vehicle.

Timothy Johnson, the only surviving passenger in Monday night's wreck remains in critical condition at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo.

The driver of the truck, who is identified as Theron McSay was also taken to Northwest and is listed as having serious injuries.

At this time, Miller says the cast and crew are trying to stay strong despite everything.

"This is still so fresh and so new and so deep dealing with the families and the kids. It's a little overwhelming for everyone in here," Miller said.
