Close friends remember Amarillo native killed in TEXAS wreck

Posted: Updated:

Of the five Texas cast members who were killed in Monday's accident, only one was native to Amarillo. While Clint Diaz may have only been a young 20 years old when his life was cut short, it was apparent during a memorial ceremony Wednesday evening that during his lifetime, he impacted countless other lives.

Wednesday, some 30 people came together at Oasis Southwest Baptist Church for a memorial ceremony. Most were high school friends of Clint's, from Tascosa High School. Clint was active in his high school choir,  theater and the arts at both Abilene Christian University and West Texas A&M, and for the past several years the Texas outdoor musical as well. Although there were plenty of tears and heartache, it was Clint's smile, laugh and one of a kind personality that was remembered during the memorial.

"It's become very easy for us to remember the laughter, the smile, the expressions that he did to make us smile when we were feeling down," said Michael Grady, one of Clint's lifelong friends. "So we actually came and we remembered what he would've done to make us smile while we're sitting here crying."

The cast of Texas decided to honor all five victims together, not through a ceremony, but through a performance of their show Wednesday night, open to only family and close friends.
