Girl Scouts recruit members at Amarillo Zoo

Posted: Updated:

The Amarillo Zoo welcomed potential Girl Scouts Saturday afternoon for the groups annual recruitment event.

Girls from Kindergarten through 12th grade were able to enjoy the day with their families.

For one local mom, seeing her daughter sign up to become a Girl Scout is something she has always wanted. "It's an amazing feeling to get to watch my little girl grow up hopefully like I did, because girl scouts was an amazing thing for us. I got confidence, leader ship skills, and the camping was always fun. it gets to teach the kids a lot. It teaches them how to be around other kids and stuff," Jyl Spence told us.

The girls were also able to explore the zoo by participating in a scavenger hunt.
