Posted: Updated:

Amarillo, TX - A reward is now being offered for a suspect believed to be involved in a homicide Monday.

Officers responded to The Granite at 34th, formerly known as Three Fountains Apartments, at 3308 Eddy Street, around 7:15 Monday evening.

On arrival they say they discovered a victim inside one of the apartments with what appeared to be stab wounds.

The victim was later identified as Perry Hooten.

He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

An autopsy has been ordered.

A murder warrant has been issued for his son, 35-year old Shawn Hooten, who remains on the run.

The Special Crimes Unit was at the scene until around 3:00 Tuesday morning and continued their search near the Medical District in Amarillo, where they believe Hooten may have been hiding in some brush.

Anyone with information about this homicide is asked to call Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 374-4400 or the Special Crimes Unit at 378-9468.

If your anonymous tip leads to the location and arrest of Shawn Hooten you may be eligible for a reward of up to $300.
