LAWTON,Okla_The executive director of the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority came to Lawton Thursday to give an update on projects in this part of the state. Tim Stewart told the group they spend about $80 million a year on construction and improvement of the roads and bridges within the system.
He said it's important for his department to stay in touch with the public's needs since it's their dollars that fund those projects.
"If we don't serve our customers well, they quit traveling, and we don't have the income to reinvest into our system and manage and maintain it effectively," said Stewart.
