Amarillo police investigate drive-by shooting

Amarillo, TX - A man is recovering from the life-threatening injuries he received in a drive-by shooting in Amarillo over the weekend.

Amarillo police responded to reports of shots fired at the intersection at 16th and Ong street at about 12:20 Sunday morning.

Police say a gold Chevy Impala and blue Oldsmobile drove by the intersection and numerous shots were fired in the 1100 block of northwest 16th.

One victim was hit in the leg by one of the rounds, and was taken to the emergency room in a personal vehicle. He was later taken to a Lubbock hospital for his injuries.

Christopher Eugene Irabor, an occupant of the gold Impala was booked into Potter County Correction Center for unlawfully carrying a weapon.

The incident remains under investigation.
