LAWTON,Okla_The City Council received its first financial report of the fiscal year Tuesday night and it shows that expenses are slightly ahead of revenue.
These monthly updates were requested after some council members had said they had been caught off-guard by the city's financial situation, as they prepared this year's budget.
There was no discussion on the data presented night, by design. Mayor Fred Fitch said they'll discuss the numbers at the next meeting, to give the council time to go over 12 page report.
The mayor also delivered a brief "State of the City Address" in which he said the city faced some difficult challenges over the last year, but also accomplished a great deal.
He cited both the 82nd Street and 2nd Street developments, as well as the progress on water and sewer lines which will clear the way for new residential and commercial construction.
