Group meets to oversee Okla. Capitol repairs

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A commission created earlier this year to oversee a $120 million renovation of the state Capitol has held its first meeting.

The Long-Range Capital Planning Commission met Tuesday at the Capitol to review its mission, organize and to tour some state facilities.

Besides overseeing the Capitol overhaul, the nine-member commission is charged with developing an eight-year plan for the management of state buildings and assets. The commission includes three members each appointed by the governor, House speaker and Senate president pro tem.

The group on Tuesday toured three state buildings in Oklahoma City _ the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse headquarters, the Jim Thorpe Building and the Will Rogers Building.
