Traci Young Benefit Concert

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla._

Friends, family, and supporters of Traci Young gathered Sunday afternoon during a benefit concert held in her.

Traci Young, Lawton's 12th homicide victim, was shot and killed by her ex husband back in July while inside her own home.

Sunday musicians gathered to take a stand against domestic abuse while helping to raise money for Young's family to help with her funeral expenses. Her family said they hoped to use the money to purchase a headstone for her grave.

Employees with New Directions Battered Wives Shelter and Domestic Abuse Hot Line were also present and encouraged others suffering from abuse to speak up.

"Reach out don't be afraid to tell someone because one of the tactics that an abuser firsts goes for is to isolate the victim, so telling the victim no one will believe you and there is no one that will help you that is the farthest thing from the truth," said Delicia Dillard.

Traci was a beloved local singer performer who sang with many local and regional talents, of which many Sunday performed in her honor.

Her happiness on stage and among friends over shadowed the underlying suffering she endured.
