Okla. College Presidents Want Immigration Reform

Posted: Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The presidents of 13 Oklahoma colleges and universities are calling on Oklahoma's five U.S. Representatives to work for passage of immigration reform this year.

A letter from the 13 to Republican Reps. Tom Cole, Frank Lucas, Markwayne Mullin, Jim Bridenstine and James Lankford calls for "a comprehensive, bipartisan solution."

Oklahoma City University President Robert Henry said there are students from more than 50 countries at the university and many want to stay in the U.S. after graduation - but can't because of visa issues. Henry says those students would help the state economically.

Oklahoma has 28 public and 14 private colleges and universities. The presidents who sent the letter come from both public and private institutions.
