13 arrests in connection to drug cartel

Amarillo, Texas - Thirteen individuals were arrested Tuesday in connection with a major drug trafficking ring in Amarillo.

A two year investigation by the DEA and the FBI led to the arrests. Dan Salter with the DEA says they have dealt a serious blow to the Gulf Cartel, a Mexican drug traffic organization operating in the Texas panhandle.

$500,000 in cash, 2.25 kilograms of cocaine, 1.75 pounds of methamphetamine, and with six firearms were seized today during the arrests.

All 12 men and one female remain in custody in the Randall County Jail.

Arrested were:

36 year-old Sammy Augustin Galan

33 year-old Miguel Carrasco

36 year-old Conrad Nava

37 year-old Bobby Holman

32 year-old Floyd Teafatiller

34 year-old Jessie Herrera

35 year-old Joey Nicholas Vallejo

23 year-old Traci Michelle Ramos

35 year-old Curtis Gonzales

43 year-old Shannon Drell Harris

40 year-old Arcel Vega Martinez

22 year-old Thiraphong Vongprachanh
