Posted: Updated:

Amarillo, TX - An attempted burglary early Friday morning ends with the suspect being shot.

It was around 1:30 AM when police responded to a home at the 3300 block of South Jackson on reports of a burglary.

Officers say a 25 year old female suspect was armed with a bat and breaking windows. After making entry into the residence, the homeowner reportedly shot her.

The suspect is at the hospital being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

The homeowner and a witness have been detained and are undergoing questioning.

Police say the resident and female suspect know each other from a previous relationship.

At this point no arrests have been made.
