Salvation Army to Host Block Party Fundraiser

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON Okla_ The Lawton Salvation Army Youth Group wants to give back to the community, and it's doing that by throwing a block party.

It's the first time they've done it. It'll be in the Salvation Army parking lot Saturday. The celebration includes a cook-out, games and live music performed by some young people in the community.

Lieutenant Israel Roseno said this is a great way for the youth to show their appreciation.

"This community has been really good to us, the Salvation Army in general," Roseno said. "I think this is a way for us to maybe give them back, give back to the community a little bit, just as a way to say thank you for the donation, the support, the time and effort of the people that come here day after day."

The block party starts at 11:00AM, and you're invited. It's also a fundraiser to help them get ready for the holidays. If you can donate either food or money, that'll keep their food pantry stocked.
