Frederick_Voters approved a proposal Tuesday to extend a sales tax to pay for changes to the city's wastewater lagoon, by a vote of 188-27.
The changes are mandated by the federal government. The city must start work next month on the project, and finish by February 2015. It will cost approximately $7 million.
The vote means a half-cent sales tax that would have expired in March will be extended. The city manager says the voters' approval will prevent rising sewer costs.
