Altus Man Arrested for Stealing Cars from Dealership

ALTUS, Okla_ Altus police have arrested a man for stealing two automobiles from a local car dealership.

20-year-old Johnny Loren Burnett is in the Jackson County Jail for his alleged part in stealing two cars from Wilmes Chevrolet in Altus.

Police showed up at Wilmes around 6:20 PM Tuesday to investigate the auto theft. They called OnStar, who located the vehicle. Police stopped the driver in the 100 block of North Lee shortly after.

During the traffic stop, someone else pulled up to the scene and approached police. Police later found that car was also stolen from the same dealership 10 days prior.

Burnett is currently being held in the Jackson County Jail on two counts of knowingly concealing stolen property and two counts of larceny of an automobile. Investigators questioned the other person and released him. Official charges have not yet been filed, because the investigation is ongoing. We'll keep you updated.
