New drought monitoring website for Texas

Posted: Updated:

Amarillo, TX - As Texans are already voting on proposition 6, A measure that would take 30 billion dollars from the state's rainy day fund to kick start water projects.

Thursday, the Texas Water Development board announced a new drought website for people concerned about the lingering drought.

Now Texans have another tool to track water resources.

The site unveiled this week offers updated resource links, data, and breaks down the conditions linked to the severe drought affecting Texas since 2011.

The site automatically downloads drought-related information from national and state resources on a daily basis.

It monitors the current levels of reservoirs across the state, including those in our area.

It also tracks the conditions of lakes and rivers, with detailed information from as far back as a year ago.

The website is meant to help Texans keep track of the drought, which is still ongoing despite the higher amount of rain we've received this year compared to the 2011 and 2012.
