Altus Police Investigate Suspicious Box

ALTUS, Okla._ A suspicious box in Altus caused quite the scare Saturday, coming only days after Altus Airman Timothy Carey was arrested for having bomb making materials.

An Altus Police Officer noticed the suspicious item while on patrol near Veterans Drive in Altus Saturday morning.

Construction is currently taking place on this stretch of road, so the officer thought the item may belong to one of the workers. But when the construction company denied it belonging to them, Altus Police called in the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Squad just to be safe.

It was determined that the item was just a small metal lunch box with no explosives inside.
