School Storm Shelter Battle Continues

OKLAHOMA CITY Okla_ The legal squabble over the ballot language for storms shelters won't be decided any time soon.

A referee for the Oklahoma Supreme Court Monday set several deadlines for briefs in the case. Oral arguments are set for December 18th.

Southwest Oklahoma Representative Joe Dorman has taken issue with the wording state Attorney General Scott Pruitt has used on the $500 million ballot initiative. It would help Oklahoma school districts pay for safe-room shelters in all schools. Dorman and Take Shelter Oklahoma supporters say Pruitt waited too long to notify them of his plans to rewrite the ballot title and that Pruitt's language is biased against the proposal.

The challenge was filed by Take Shelter Oklahoma and Kristi Conatzer, the mother of one of seven children killed when a tornado struck a Moore school in May.
