ALTUS, Okla._The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Squad was called to investigate a suspicious package Saturday that was left near a busy road in Altus.
Police were called to the VFW on North Veterans Drive around 9:00 a.m. Saturday and found a lunch box next to a gas meter.
Veterans Drive was closed between East Broadway and Galaxy Drive for five hours. An Altus Air Force Explosive Detecting K-9 was brought in.
The dog was not able to determine if it was an explosive. That's when the bomb squad was called in. No explosives were found, the lunch box only contained children's toys.
Police said they took the threat seriously in light of an arrest that was made last week after an Altus Airman bragged about blowing up an Altus Wal-Mart and other locations in the city.
