LAWTON,Okla_Lawton's Woodland Hills Elementary School is doing their part to raise awareness of breast cancer, as well as money for research.
Monday night they presented the American Cancer Society with a check. Woodland Hill's Midget Football Team donated $100.
All month long, the team has worn pink jerseys to show their support. One of the parents, Karen Wile, whose battled cancer off and on for the last 15 1/2 years explained just how much this means to her.
"It makes me very proud especially because since my youngest son is out here. My middle one did it two years ago, so for me it just makes me over joyous," said Wiley.
Some players admitted to enduring some teasing from other players for sporting the pink, but they said the meaning behind it was worth it.
Some of the others players have parents and teachers who are also battling cancer.
