West Nile Virus continues to spread in our area

Amarillo, TX - West Nile Virus continues to spread in our area with four new cases and two deaths being reported in the last week.

The Texas Department of State Health Services released its weekly update today, showing Castro, Deaf Smith, Potter and Randall counties each added one new case of West Nile.

Two people, both in Randall County, have died as a result of the disease.

Until this point, there had only been one confirmed west Nile death in our area this year. That case was in Curry County, New Mexico.
