New building planned for Coca Cola

Amarillo, Texas - Amarillo is one step closer to moving forward with projects slated for downtown.

The Coca Cola distribution center in downtown Amarillo was originally supposed to make a move to the old Zarges building on the east side of Amarillo, near loop 335. Now they will still be making a transition to the location, but at Tuesday's city commission meeting, officials approved a deal between the Amarillo Economic Development Corp. and Coca Cola for a new building.

According to the AEDC the new distribution center building would cover 81,000 square feet on nearly 10 acres. Construction is planned to begin in March and the project to be finished in 2015.

Once the project is complete, the downtown property will be deeded to the city of Amarillo. The proposed downtown ballpark is planned to be built where Coca Cola is currently located.
