Fire Destroys Occupied Duncan Apartment Building

DUNCAN, Okla- An overnight fire in Duncan sent an apartment building up in flames, completely destroying two apartments with residents sleeping inside.

The fire broke out just before 4 a.m. Saturday morning at the Greens Invitational Apartments just south of 27th and Main Street.

Firefighters believe the fire started when a problem occurred with one of the apartment's fireplaces that was in use.

Very little remains of two upstairs apartments in the building, and the two below have extensive water damage.

The Duncan Fire Department said that both upstairs apartments and one downstairs apartment were occupied at the time of the fire, but no one was hurt.

They estimate the blaze caused more than $350,000 in damage.

Marlow and Empire Fire Departments helped Duncan Fire Department to put out the blaze.
