Alcohol ruled possible factor in fatal single car rollover

Posted: Updated:

Amarillo, TX - Alcohol has been ruled a possible factor in a weekend car wreck that took the life of a young woman in Amarillo.

Police say it happened in the 1400 block of North Bivins around 3:40 Saturday morning. Twenty-three-year-old Ashlee Angel Barrientez was driving on NE 15th when she lost control driving across Gene Howe Park, rolling her car. She was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Barrientez was taken to a local hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries from the crash, and an autopsy has been ordered.

Speed is a factor and alcohol is possible factor in the crash.

The wreck is still being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
