Fashion Show Funds Scholarships for Lawton Students

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla- Women of all ages took to the catwalk Saturday to help young women from Lawton to further their education.

The Lawton Business Women's Club held their 55th Annual Fashion Show Saturday at the Lawton Country Club.

They strutted their stuff on the runway showing off the latest fall fashion, as our very own Jan Stratton kept the crowd entertained.

Fashion Show Coordinator, Rebecca Perryman, said they hope to raise over $7,500 with this year's event.

Perryman said these scholarships are helping shape the lives of successful women.

"It makes a huge difference in someone's life. A lot of times if they had to work, they might not be able to get through school as quickly, or they might not finish. With scholarships it makes people better citizens, better parents, and they can provide better for their families," said Perryman.

The Lawton Business Women's Club awarded three scholarships.

This year's fashion show had a record turnout. Organizers hope this is a sign that they will be able to continue grow the event and scholarship program for upcoming years.
